Blog 3 – Serena

Hello all!

I’m Serena Atallah and I am the Interface Design Lead for this project. Along with my leadership position, I also have a position on the Sound and Tech Teams.

One of my main goals this year was to learn as much as possible. I figured that since it’s my final year of school, I should take full advantage of my resources. Somehow, I forgot that with learning as many new things as possible, there’s going to be lots of mistakes and lots of confusion. It’s easy to get discouraged from making mistakes or to be completely lost about what your next steps are. However, it’s all part of the learning process, and that’s the most important thing to remember when you’re learning something new.

My work process has evolved as I gained more knowledge of what exactly goes into interface design. I needed to look at things from the player’s point of view and beyond. I needed to think about things that the player wouldn’t notice until it was gone or dysfunctional. It can be very cumbersome work, but it’s so rewarding to find solutions that can be used and tested. A lot of research and support from my professors and peers has been a huge help to me to learn more about interface design and what makes a good game.

When this is all over, I hope to have a project that I’m proud of and can proudly present on my portfolio, which I am pretty confident I will. Along with that, I hope to have made a positive impact on my classmates and professors. My relationships with them are very important to me and help immensely in my production process.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Go ahead and check out my links if you wish, and follow The Hierophant on social media!

Until next time,

Serena Atallah
